Mission
Action: Education Team
St.
John's location and affiliations assist us as a church family
in reaching out to many groups. Often these are government
sponsored groups whose funding needs may be insufficient.
At St. John's we seek to assist organizations in their educational
needs by offering space for meetings or classes, by volunteering
our time through mentoring, by creating drives for collection
of needed items, and by helping others expand their educational
horizons. We invite you to join us as we seek to educate our
community and together soar to new heights.

Here's
How to Get Involved:
Headstart
(St. John's): The government funded program
that helps preschoolers begin the transition to the public
school system is just one organization that makes its school-year
home here at St. John's. On any given week you will find our
halls loaded with little people who are expanding their hearts
and minds. Contact Paul Huffman.
Right
Moves for Youth:
Founded by one of our very own church members,
this organization seeks to pair at-risk youth with mentors
and tutors who can assist them in their education but also
in the personal issues that today's youth face. View their
website at www.rightmovesforyouth.org

Highland
Renaissance Academy: For
some years, St. John's has had a commitment to partnering
with this Cherry community school. Together we have tutored
students and provided uniforms, school supplies and other
requested items. Contact Paul Huffman.
Sudanese
Education Ministry: In the Spring of
2001, St. John's began a ministry to the Sudanese Refugees
of the Charlotte community. Part of our ministry to them has
been in providing tutors as well as our own wisdom in navigating
the educational systems of higher education. Our students
currently attend: Central Piedmont Community College, Mars
Hill College, the University of North Carolina at Asheville,
and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
