Utilizing a variety of books and commentaries for study\, the Seekers uphold the great tradition of St. John’s where all ideas are accepted and there is a place where none of those ideas separate one from the other.\nDidymus Class: This unique\, maturing\, and eclectic group learns through the free exchange of ideas while embracing their belief that\, “A Difference of Opinion Is Not a Threat to Christian Fellowship.” Teachers utilize the Bible and other books in fostering a serious approach to socially relevant subjects. We also enjoy activities including parties\, book studies\, and field trips. Come\, be part of this loving and committed group!\nBeacon Class: This class is comprised of men who enjoy fellowship and significant study of the scriptures. Utilizing the Formations curriculum\, published by Smyth & Helwys\, this group uses study and discussion to stimulate both the heart and the mind. Come join this warm and thoughtful group!\nJoy Class: This diverse class of talented\, caring\, and giving women involve themselves in the study of scriptures while wrestling with its applicability to their lives. You are invited to experience the nurture\, friendship\, and true joy of the Joy Class!\nAdventure Class: We are an eclectic group united by a deep interest in the adventure of our faith journeys. The group discusses various topics and looks for how they connect to the journey of faith. This combined class is full of thoughtful people who long to learn and bring their own gifts to their learning. These fun-loving folks incorporate their theological persuasions and studies with their varying world views for in-depth and challenging conversations each Sunday.\nMcLeod Brown Class: This group honors two of its long-time teachers through its name and is committed to building relationships with each other. Come and learn with them!\nPathfinders Class: This group is primarily composed of married couples with teenagers and young adult children. DESCRIPTION:The Chancel Choir is for the adult members of our congregation who want to raise their voices to God. This is the regular choir for Sunday worship. The importance of meaningful and well-prepared worship music at St. John’s is most keenly reflected in the commitment of this vital choir. While extensive musical training is not a prerequisite\, those of our congregation who have musical backgrounds are urged to share their talents in the Chancel Choir.

DESCRIPTION:NAMI Family Support Group is a peer-led support group for any adult with a loved one who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Gain insight from the challenges and successes of others facing similar experiences. \nNAMI’s support groups are unique because they follow a structured model\, ensuring everyone has an opportunity to be heard and to get what they need. \n\nFree of cost to participants\nDesigned for adult loved ones of people with mental health conditions\nLed by family members of people with mental health conditions\nNo specific medical therapy or treatment is endorsed\nConfidential\n\nWhat You’ll Gain\nBy sharing your experiences in a safe setting\, you can gain hope and develop supportive relationships. This group allows your voice to be heard and provides an opportunity for your personal needs to be met. It encourages empathy\, productive discussion and a sense of community. SUMMARY:A Faithful Response to the Mental Health Crisis of Our Children and Teens
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Dr. Sarah Griffith Lund on February 26 at 2pm via Zoom \nRev. Kheresa Harmon invites you to join the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina with pastor\, advocate and author\, Sarah Griffith Lund\, to find hope and healing as we share stories and resources addressing the increasing mental health challenges facing youth today. \nRev. Dr. Lund will share highlights from her new book Blessed Youth: Breaking the Silence About Mental Illness with Children and Teens and the book for children and teens\, Blessed Youth Survival Guide. \nThis free event will be held via Zoom on Monday\, February 26 at 2:00pm. \nRev. Dr. Lund holds degrees from Trinity University (BA)\, Princeton Theological Seminary (MDiv)\, Rutgers University (MSW)\, and McCormick Theological Seminary (DMin). She received the Dell Award for Mental Health Education at the 30th General Synod of the UCC. \nRev. Dr. Lund currently serves as Minister for Disabilities and Mental Health Justice on the national staff of the UCC and as senior pastor of First Congregational UCC of Indianapolis\, IN. She volunteers on the national boards of Pathways to Promise\, Mental Health America\, Bethany Fellows\, and Piedmont University. In January of 2022\, Rev. Dr. Lund joined two US Department of Health and Human Services national Think Tanks\, the first about faith communities and suicide\, and the second Think Tank about faith communities and youth mental health. \nPlease join us for this free event that tackles a huge issue facing our young people today. All are welcome to attend!
