St. John’s Baptist Church is blessed to host many community events and programs throughout the year. Members and friends of the church often invite community organizations to partner with St. John’s in hosting educational workshops, community-wide worship experiences, concerts and other activities.

Some recent community events and programming hosted at St. John’s includes:

  • Power of Song Collaborative Choral Concert: Hosted March 2017 in the Sanctuary, featuring the chiors of St. John’s Baptist Church, Winthrop University and more.
  • Annual Lessons & Carols: Hosted each December in the Sanctuary and broadcast live by WDAV, Lessons & Carols has become a St. John’s community tradition
  • NewGen Peacebuilders: Hosted throughout Spring 2018 in Broach Hall, gathering dozens of young people from across Mecklenburg and Gaston Counties for peacebuilding and leadership training.
  • Naturalization Clinic: Hosted in Broach Hall in July 2018 in partnership with Charlotte’s Latin American Coalition
  • Charlotte Pride Interfaith Service: Hosted in the Sanctuary in August 2018, in partnership with Charlotte Pride and a wide diversity of other faith congregations in the city.
  • Run Away With Me: A concert by Ryan Deal and Diann Clark, held in the Sanctuary in August 2018, featuring a collection of songs about love, loss and hope.
