Personnel Resource Team is pleased to announce that Noel Lance has accepted our invitation to serve as our Interim Minister for Worship and Music. We have been blessed by Noel’s musical gifts and talents since 2015 when he became our Organist/Music Associate.
A native of Florence, South Carolina (SC), he received his Bachelor of Music Education from Anderson University in Anderson SC in 1999. Soon thereafter, he attended Converse College in Spartanburg, SC to pursue his master’s in music education where he held a graduate assistantship in Piano Accompanying.
After Converse, he was a music educator with Greenville County Schools until 2003 when he decided to leave Greenville to and take residence in the Charlotte Metro area. With decades of church music experience, prior to coming to serve St. John’s, Noel served as Assistant Organist at First Baptist Church-Florence, SC; Director of Music Ministries/Organist at St. Matthew United Methodist Church-Greenville, SC; Organist/Music Associate at First Baptist Church-Monroe, NC; and Organist at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church-Charlotte, NC.
In addition to his part-time role with us, Noel is a licensed beauty professional. He has been in the industry since 2007. Noel has served the Dilworth/Myers Park/South Park communities as an independent salon owner since 2013. For fun, Noel enjoys traveling with his husband Chris, morning sessions at the gym, dining out with his dinner club, and attending concerts/musicals/plays. In 2022, Noel discovered a newfound interest in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He was awarded his Blue Belt by Royce Gracie in 2023.
