Adult Ministries

Our ministries for adults seek to provide opportunities for our members and for the community
we serve to grow in faith, to find their place of mission, and to build community.

Ministry for Adults

Our programs seek to facilitate individuals from age 18 to age 108 in their efforts to learn more about the Bible, about the intersection of our faith and our lives, and about our call to do work in the world.  We also like to have a little fun together.

We offer a wide range of diversity in our Sunday School Ministry classes and opportunities for fellowship and service throughout each week and month. Once a month, our retired and senior adults meet for our “On the Way” outings that include everything from lunch at a local restaurant to a day-trip to Flat Rock, NC to see a show. We also host a Christmas luncheon for senior adults each year where those who are not able to come as often as they would like are transported to the church facilities for a delicious lunch and a musical presentation.

Women's Fellowship

Women play a pivotal role in ministry at St. John’s, contributing their unique perspectives, talents, and leadership to various aspects of church life. The ministry for women at the church provides a supportive and empowering environment where women can grow spiritually, serve their community, and develop meaningful relationships with one another. Through book studies, prayer groups, Sunday growth groups, and service projects, women are encouraged to explore their faith, discover their God-given gifts, and make a positive impact both within the church and beyond. We host a yearly women’s retreat, special workshops, book studies, and more throughout the year. This inclusive approach to ministry not only enriches the spiritual vitality of the congregation but also highlights the importance of gender equality and diversity in fulfilling the church’s mission.

Men's Fellowship

St. John’s has a vibrant men’s ministry dedicated to fostering fellowship and spiritual growth among its members. Led by passionate leaders, the ministry offers a diverse range of opportunities for men to connect and support one another. From monthly breakfast meetings to organized sports leagues and service opportunities, there are ample chances for camaraderie and bonding. Through these initiatives, the men’s ministry at St. John’s Baptist Church serves as a cornerstone for building strong relationships and strengthening the faith of its members.

Retired Adult Ministries

We have a vibrant retired and senior adult ministry here at St. John’s! Once a month, we share in special outings called “On the Way” especially for retired adults and friends. Sometimes these monthly outings are simply a meal at a local restaurant and sometimes they are day trips to places like Flat Rock for a play, to see Mayberry, or to visit historic places in Winston-Salem. You may have heard that the early Christians were called followers of “The Way.” Much of the ministry of Jesus also occurred when he was “On The Way” to another destination. As we go places together that will be our challenge too – to find ways to bless others while are “On The Way.” We also host a Christmas luncheon for senior adults each year where those who are not able to come as often as they would like are transported to the church facilities for a delicious lunch and a musical presentation.
